No, your undergrad major does not matter as far as your masters degree is concerned. BA is Bachelors of Arts and requires a foreign language however it is not as hands on as a BS.

Usually you need a 3.0 and take the GRE for admittance into the program but depends on the school. Sometime less that a 3.0 you can get in.

Most MBA programs prefer students with 2-3 years work experience after the first degree, but some accept students right out of college if they have good grades and a high GMAT score. Some MBA programs are designed specifically for new college graduates without work experience.

Consult the Official MBA Guide. It's a comprehensive free public service with more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. It allows you to search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc.), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc.), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, executive, and accelerated), and by listing your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs. Schools report their accreditation status, tuition cost, number of students, class sizes, program length, and a lot of other data. Schools provide data on entrance requirements, program costs, program characteristics, joint degrees, and much more. You can use the Guide to contact schools of your choice, examine their data, visit their web site, and send them pre applications. You can see lists of top 40 schools ranked by starting salaries of graduates, GMAT scores, and other criteria. It's the best service available at http://officialmbaguide.org.

Comment on What's the chance of a dentist getting in to McKinsey & Comp without a MBA degree? by Metlin

It really depends. Lots of strategy consulting firms (McKinsey included) hire a lot of non-MBAs. For instance, look at McKinsey's BTO (Business Technology Operations) -- a lot of folks there have technical backgrounds, and have not necessarily gone to business school.

The question of course is how you would position your background and experience to be a fit for a strategy consulting firm. If you've done anything that could help in this regard (e.g. work as a dentist for a pharmaceutical company in the consulting or sales role), it would be in your favor.

If you have not, you could still try, of course, but your chances are limited without any such exposure.

Personally, I'd recommend trying the smaller consulting firms and moving your way upwards -- the experience at the smaller firms with your background would work in your favor. And you could always do an MBA part-time (or executive) while you're at a smaller firm, and utilize that to your benefit for later.

Good luck.

No.
California will waive the 2 years of having to have a sales license to take the brokers exam. Check with www.DuaneGomer.com

If you have passed any states Bar exam you can take the brokers exam with only the classes of appraisal and RE Finance.

It depends on your career goals. The MBA is a general degree that trains students to become managers at any level in business up to CEO. The MS is a specialized degree that concentrates on a single field and trains students for high level staff or research positions.

MBA programs were originally designed for engineers, when it was evident that those promoted to management often could not manage, and mangers who did not have engineering backgrounds did not understand what the engineers were doing or saying. Most MBA programs prefer students with 2-3 years work experience after the first degree.

1. Get an undergraduate degree in any field with good grades. The best fields are engineering, mathematics, or the sciences.
2. Get a job and work 2-4 years. Save your money, every penny you possibly can.
3. Take the GMAT and get a nice score in the 600 + range.
4. Apply to the MBA program of your choice.

You get to learn how to manage effectively, make wise decisions regarding management, hone your leadership skills, perform human resource tasks effectively, and put up successful businesses (King of Balls, Auntie Anne's, and Nacho Fast were all founded by Atenean MBAers).
